Rio de Janeiro, October 2nd 2018 – Nicola Cotugno, former head of Enel Chile, will be the new Country Manager of Enel Brasil, effective October 31st. Mr Cotugno will replace Carlo Zorzoli, who was at the head of Enel Brasil since April 2016. Mr Zorzoli will go back to Italy to take on a new job position within the Group, as Head of the Global Business Development at Enel Green Power.
Before joining Enel Chile in 2016, Nicola Cotugno was CEO of Slovenské elektrárne (Slovakia), where he also served as Head of Operations and was in charge for the Generation and Energy Management. Between 2000 and 2007, he held several positions in both Energy Management and Generation at Enel in Italy and Spain. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Sapienza University of Rome (Italy) and specialized in Business at INSEAD (France).
Enel Brasil would like to thank Carlo Zorzoli for his outstanding contribution and achievements to the company`s boosting growth on the Brazilian market. Under his management, Enel became the largest power player in the country, following the acquisition of Eletropaulo in 2018 and Enel Distribuição Goiás in 2017. Enel’s customers reached 17 million from previous 7 million in the country, so that now Enel is the largest distribution company in Brasil for customer base. Mr Zorzoli’s role was also key in pushing renewables growth. Enel Green Power increased its hydro capacity with the award of the concession of Volta Grande (MG) hydroelectric plant and started operation of Apiacás complex (MT). In 2017, Enel Green Power also became the largest solar and wind player in the country by installed capacity and project portfolio.
