New York, New York: the Formula E grand finale

Published on Thursday, 12 July 2018

The fourth season of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship will come to a triumphant close on the Brooklyn city circuit in New York, with a double appointment on 14 and 15 July.

Following last year’s debut in the Big Apple, this is the second time that the electric single-seaters will silently race, at over 200 km/h, on the Red Hook circuit: this breathtaking 2.373 km track is located on the Hudson River's mouth, with the iconic Manhattan skyline in the background, beneath the gaze of the Statue of Liberty.

Also present at the E-Prix will be the technology developed by Enel, the Official Power Partner of the competition and, as of next season, also the Official Smart Charging Partner, along with Enel X.

Our smart meters will be used on the Brooklyn circuit, as will our large energy accumulation storage system. They will all be fitted with the most advanced digital solutions by Enel X subsidiary EnerNOC's, the American company belonging to the Enel Group that specialises in developing storage software. The system allows for real-time management of the total electricity load in the paddocks and the flow of energy during the race, guaranteeing both grid balance and energy supply. And this is not just for sport: Enel X in North America created a stoarage system that serves an autonomous electrical microgrid at the residential Marcus Garvey Village, which is also located in Brooklyn.

We will also be taking two more Enel technology products to New York: the Enel X JuiceStation Fast infrastructure, capable of charging a vehicle in less than 30 minutes, and the Enel X JuiceBox, an innovative portable charger which is already available in the United States, through Enel X subsidiary eMotorWerks. Once again, Enel’s innovative products serve to enhance the technological excellence of electric motorsport and, more importantly, they are prototypes that will be used in the development of similar solutions to support and promote clean mobility.

This year again, Enel innovation will also triumph alongside the Formula E winner, in New York.
