The ePrix is set to break new ground in Santiago, Chile. On Saturday 3 February the ABB FIA Formula E Championship will be taking place for the very first time in the Chilean capital. Santiago is the setting for fourth race in the world racing series for electric single seat vehicles and, for the second year running, Enel is the competition’s Official Power Partner.
The 20 silent racing cars will hit the track in a challenge that involves battery management as well as speed on the city circuit in Parque Forestal Ciudad de Santiago. The starting grid will be on the central street of Santa Maria: from there the drivers will proceed towards the bridge over the Mapocho river which divides the city in two, before heading towards Plaza Baquedano and Parque Forestal. The track measures 2.46km (1.53 miles) in length and has a total of 12 curves.
Enel is also ready to line up on the track to renew its partnership with Formula E in the name of sustainable mobility and clean energy. Thanks to an App developed for smartphones and tablets, users will be able to monitor the energy consumption of each race.
The Formula E championship, which began on 2 December in Hong Kong, involves 20 drivers and 10 teams. The driver currently leading the pack in the world championship is Felix Rosenqvist of Mahindra Racing.
