It is not enough to perform innovative actions and research and development; it is important for them to inspire other projects. With the aim of sharing the knowledge that circulates within the company, Enel took part in Citenel (Electric Energy Technological Innovation Congress – Congresso de Inovação Tecnológica em Energia Elétrica) and Seenel (Electricity Sector Energy Efficiency Seminar – Seminário de Eficiência Energética no Setor Elétrico), promoted by the National Electric Energy Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica – Aneel).

With the theme ‘Innovation and Integration: local responses to global barriers’, the events took place in João Pessoa, in Paraíba, and aimed at promoting the results of the Research and Development and Energy Efficiency programmes of the main companies in the electricity sector. The meetings gathered around 10,000 visitors and participants from several countries.

The panels pointed out that Brazil is one of the countries with the biggest solar power generation potential as even the Brazilian region with the lowest solar incidence has around 40% more light than Germany (the European country is currently the leader in the photovoltaic generation market).

To demonstrate that this potential is already a reality for the company, Enel Group, the largest producer of solar energy in Brazil, showcased on its stand the solutions developed by the firm around this type of generation, as well as other initiatives in electric mobility, smart meters, waste treatment and rational energy consumption.

One of the novelties this year was the creation of an exclusive area to exhibit products that motivated the interaction of participants with the projects and actions developed. Enel’s initiatives attracted the public by bringing together sustainable technologies and the final user.

A 100% electric vehicle from the Car Sharing Project enabled many visitors to have their first experience with electric mobility. Participants could feel the power of this kind of vehicle while taking part in test drives.

The Enel Ship, a device that is part of the sustainability programme, promotes environmental awareness in a pedagogic way through interaction. The station exhibits films and hosts playful activities across the country, visiting schools and taking knowledge to students. And it was also at the event reaffirming the company’s pillars: to replicate knowledge and to stimulate innovations that build practices around protecting the planet.
