Niterói, May 26th, 2020 – Enel X Brasil, the Enel Group business line dedicated to innovative products and digital solutions, and HERE Technologies, global leader in geographical data and mapping services, have launched today in Brazil City Analytics – Mobility Map, a solution developed to simplify the management of COVID-19 containment measures and that can help in the creation of urban mobility strategies. Through Big Data technology, the tool enables the monitoring of movements in 1,800 Brazilian cities. The technology, which was also recently launched in Italy and Spain, estimates variations in the public’s movements and maps movement flows between municipalities, macro-regions and States, based on anonymous and aggregated data from connected vehicles, maps and navigation systems – produced thanks to connections to location data from mobile applications data and open data from government agencies. The solution will be available to public administrations, institutions, companies and citizens for free until June 30th, considering the country’s current emergency situation.

“This tool, conforming to current legislation in terms of privacy, analyses mobility, offering to interested agencies indicators that enable the analysis of macro-flows. It is capable of supplying movement estimates, kilometres travelled and the main entry and exit points for a selected geographical area, according to the region, state and municipality,” explains Francisco Scroffa, head of Enel X Brasil.

Information available through the platform can be used by governments to define and create several strategies, such as traffic monitoring and planning between cities. In the pandemic scenario, it can be used to better understand the impacts of the COVID-19 containment measures, identify areas that need more support in the implementation of these measures and analyse the gradual return to normal in a data-driven way, once the pandemic is over. The indicators are available to all users through a web dashboard that can be accessed through Enel X’s website at https://www.enelx.com/br/pt/para- cidades/dashboard-covid-19. The data is available in regional, state and municipal scale and is updated daily at noon.

HERE Technologies is determined to leverage its location intelligence in the fight against the global coronavirus pandemic. Together with Enel X, we hope to help the country contain and control the spread of the coronavirus while protecting the privacy of citizens,” said Edzard Overbeek, CEO of HERE Technologies.

Information that can be found through the platform

It is possible to access an interactive map that enables the easy visualisation of:

  • the percentage change in the number of trips compared to the same day in the previous week and to a references period before the emergency;
  • the percentage variation in total kilometres travelled compared to the same day in the previous week and to a references period before the emergency;
  • entry and exit flows in the reference area.
