At the end of May, Enel Distribuição Goiás launched the first Ecopoint open to the population of Goiânia, in the parking lot of the Sacred Family Sanctuary in Vila Nova Canaã. Until December, the company aims to open another five recycling materials collection stations in the state.

In the first three months of the programme in Goiás, Ecoenel collected more than 17 tonnes of waste and at least 450 customers have guaranteed discounts in their energy bills. The Ecopoint opened in Goiânia is the state’s fifth.

“Several partners are already approaching us, interested in supporting Enel’s recycling programme. Our aim is to expand the project not only in Goiânia but across the whole state of Goiás.”

– Adriano Faria, Energy Efficiency projects manager

Learn how to take part and get your bonus

Any customer, residential or business, can take part in the programme. To enrol, all you need is to visit an Ecopoint with your energy bill and separate your waste by type in advance. The recyclable materials will be weighed (each type of waste has its worth in kilos, units or litres) and the value of the bonus will be credited on your next energy bill.

“The population now has an efficient way of disposing of their recyclable waste and can also get discounts on their energy bills: a sustainable partnership in which everyone wins.”

– Alyne Gois, New Opportunities in Sustainability department

Customers can check the impact of the programme through the Ecoenel app, which allows them to visualise their collection history, the value of their bonuses, the closest Ecopoints and the price list for the waste received in every collection station.

In 11 years of operation in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Ceará and Goiás, the programme has already recycled over 32,000 tonnes, benefitting more than 236,000 customers.
