Bruno Riga is the Director for Generation, Enel’s business line for energy generation from conventional and renewable sources.
Overseeing the business operations line, assuring the implementation of a global business line strategy, and coordinating the development of key performance goals achieving safety, environment, quality, time, and cost objectives are among Riga’s main responsibilities.
Riga’s professional career in Enel started in 2001 as a modeling engineer in the company’s research division, working on an innovative project tasked with defining a diagnostic methodology for failures in combined cycle and gas turbines. Following this experience, Mr. Riga worked on a TQM project applying lean techniques to accomplish efficiency in industrial processes of various power plants (Fusina, Brindisi, Vittorio Veneto, La Casella, Bastardo, etc.).
Subsequently, Mr. Riga worked as Head of Maintenance and, afterward, also as Head of Operations at Rossano Business Unit. The next step brought Mr. Riga to Bari, Piombino, and Livorno as Head of facilities. Until 2012, Mr. Riga was in charge of Planning and Monitoring Performance of Italian Generation Power Plants and Head of Hydro Power Plants Dispatching Centers, while in 2013 he started an overseas experience in Endesa (Spain) as head of the As Pontes Power Plant, followed by being appointed as Head of Fleet Generation Colombia and General Manager of Enel Emgesa.
Furthermore, Riga was a member of several Committees (VGB Power Tech, Colombian Large Dam and Tunnels Committee) and is currently a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
Bruno Riga has a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, and in his free time loves to collect antique books of engineering and mathematics and old maps of countries that he visited.
